Territory Management allows organizations to segment their customer records (Leads, Accounts, Contacts, Deals) based on geographic, product, or other criteria—independently of the role hierarchy (Zoho PDF: Territory Management Decision Guide).
Key Territory Concepts
- Territory Hierarchy: A separate hierarchy from role hierarchy. Users can belong to multiple territories simultaneously.
- Territory Criteria: Rule-based assignment based on any field values (e.g., billing state, industry). Up to 25 arguments per territory rule.
- Territory Manager: Each territory has a designated manager with elevated access within that territory.
- Multiple Forecasts: When a user belongs to multiple territories, separate forecast targets can be set for each territory.
- Territory Modules: Territories can be applied to Accounts (default), Leads, and Deals. As of the Q2 2026 roadmap, territory support is being extended to child custom modules (Zoho Vertical Studio 2026 roadmap).
- Predefined Reports: "Star Performers across territories," "Revenue by Territories," "Overall Sales Cycle Duration among territories."
Setup path: Setup > Security Control > Territory Management. Two initialization options: "Extend from Role Hierarchy" (copies existing role structure) or "Start from Scratch" (custom tree). This choice is permanent once made (Marks Group: Territory Management).
