Territories

191 words · preserved verbatim from the master reference

Territory Management allows organizations to segment their customer records (Leads, Accounts, Contacts, Deals) based on geographic, product, or other criteria—independently of the role hierarchy (Zoho PDF: Territory Management Decision Guide).

Key Territory Concepts

  • Territory Hierarchy: A separate hierarchy from role hierarchy. Users can belong to multiple territories simultaneously.
  • Territory Criteria: Rule-based assignment based on any field values (e.g., billing state, industry). Up to 25 arguments per territory rule.
  • Territory Manager: Each territory has a designated manager with elevated access within that territory.
  • Multiple Forecasts: When a user belongs to multiple territories, separate forecast targets can be set for each territory.
  • Territory Modules: Territories can be applied to Accounts (default), Leads, and Deals. As of the Q2 2026 roadmap, territory support is being extended to child custom modules (Zoho Vertical Studio 2026 roadmap).
  • Predefined Reports: "Star Performers across territories," "Revenue by Territories," "Overall Sales Cycle Duration among territories."

Setup path: Setup > Security Control > Territory Management. Two initialization options: "Extend from Role Hierarchy" (copies existing role structure) or "Start from Scratch" (custom tree). This choice is permanent once made (Marks Group: Territory Management).
