Zoho CRM supports a rich set of field types, filterable within the Data Model interface. The complete list as exposed by the Data Model includes (Zoho CRM Data Model documentation):

NumericNumber, Decimal, Long Integer, Percent, Currency
Date/TimeDate, Date/Time
BooleanCheckbox
DerivedFormula, Auto-Number
RelationalLookup, Multi-Select Lookup, Multi-Module Lookup, User Lookup, Multi-User Lookup
ContactEmail, Phone, URL
MediaRecord Image, File Upload, Image Upload

Additional field types available in the layout editor include Subform (embedded table), Rich Text, and the new Address field (compound field with 8 sub-fields, rolled out globally in March 2026 (Zoho March 2026 update video)).

Key Field Notes

  • Formula fields are not available in the Standard edition; they were made available starting with Professional. Formula fields can now reference other formula fields (layered calculations, released January 2026 (Zoho Vertical Studio January 2026 release notes)).
  • Formula fields with "Now" function can be configured to auto-refresh on every view, or to freeze on a defined condition (Zoho CRM 2025 highlights).
  • Multi-Select Lookup Fields require Enterprise edition or above and create a many-to-many relationship via a linking module. A maximum of two multi-select lookup fields per module; one can be self-referencing (Zoho CRM help: Types of Custom Fields).
  • Multi-Module Lookup: A lookup field that can point to records from multiple modules (still listed as an emerging feature; community threads note it is on the roadmap as of late 2025 (Zoho community: Multi Module Lookup)).
  • Custom Field limits vary by edition; a "Custom Fields Left" counter is visible in the layout editor.
  • Field permissions are profile-based (not layout-specific); changes apply across all layouts for the selected profile (Marks Group: Field Permissions).
  • Picklist History: The system automatically tracks changes to picklist values as a first-class entity in the data model, enabling audit trails on field changes (Zoho CRM Data Model documentation).
  • Rollup Summary fields: Admins can configure custom rollup fields (introduced 2025) to roll up aggregated values from child records into parent module records (Zoho CRM 2025 highlights). The Q2 2026 roadmap also shows subform row count via aggregate field (Zoho Vertical Studio 2026 roadmap).
  • Address field (new, March 2026): The new compound Address field stores eight sub-fields (street, city, state, country, zip, etc.) with global-set-driven state filtering when a country is selected. Supports smart filters on sub-fields (Zoho March 2026 update video).
